With the boys of summer fighting in WWII, it's up to the women they left behind to step up to the plate and carry on America's pastime. Two competitive sisters, Dottie Henson (Geena Davis) and Kit Keller (Lori Petty), are recruited by the All-American Pro Girls League and join a team of mothers, daughters and sisters who just love to play ball. Faced with a hard-drinking, skeptical manager (Tom Hanks) and a less than enthusiastic crowd, the woman eventually win over everyone with their tough play and love of the game.
