On the eve of serial killer Jon Forster's execution, Dr. Jack Gramm (Al Pacino), the forensic psychiatrist who influenced the jury to send Forster to death row, receives a phone call stating that he has eighty-eight minutes to live. While Gramm tries to track down possible suspects, a copycat killer strikes in Seattle using Forster's same twisted methods.
