Harvey Pekar (Paul Giamatti) is a file clerk with a dead-end job and an unsatisfying life. A chance meeting with Robert Crumb (James Urbaniak), a greeting card artist turned comic book illustrator, convinces Harvey to create his own comic centered on his working-class existence.
