Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) investigates the murder of a prominent physicist with the help of his daughter Vittoria (Ayelet Zurer). As the trail leads them to the Vatican, Robert and Vittoria find clues linking the murder, as well as the kidnapping of four cardinals, to the Illuminati, a powerful ancient group long thought to be extinct.
