Without a good buddy to ask to be the best man at his wedding, Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) sets out on a series of man dates to find a new best friend. Eventually, Peter meets Sydney Fife (Jason Segel), a charming, opinionated man with whom he instantly bonds. But, as Peter and Sydney spend more and more time together, Peter's relationship with his finacee Zooey (Rashida Jones) begins to suffer.
