Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon), a pair of unemployed musicians, accidentally witness the St. Valentine's Day gangster murders. To protect themselves from retribution, they disguise themselves as women and join up with an all-female traveling band. While on a train to Florida, the pair fall for the band's beautiful ukulele player (Marilyn Monroe). Eventually, the mobsters track them down and the two use every trick in the book to stay alive.
