Eddie Adams (Mark Wahlberg) is a handsome, uneducated teenager with a huge, natural gift. While working in the kitchen of a nightclub, he is discovered by John Horner (Burt Reynolds), a successful porn producer, who lures him into a promising career in the adult entertainment industry. But, after a rapid rise and fall and numerous attempts to leave the business behind, Eddie and the other actors form an unlikely family, with Horner acting as patriarch and starlet Amber Waves (Julianne Moore) the surrogate mother.
