When straight-laced attorney Peter Sanderson (Steve Martin) learns that the woman he met on the internet, Charlene Morton (Queen Latifah), is a prison escapee and not the Ivy League-educated attorney he imagined, he has no idea what to do. While Sanderson intially does not want to help Charlene clear her name, her lively personality and unorthodox but successful methods of relating to Sanderson's estranged children (Kimberly J.
