When high school best friends Betsy Jobs (Kirsten Dunst) and Arlene Lorenzo (Michelle Williams) wander off during a class trip to the White House and stumble into a room filled with presidential secrets, the Secret Service tracks them down and brings them to President Richard Nixon (Dan Hedaya). Intent on finding out just how much they know, Dick appoints them as official White House dog walkers. Initially, the President is able to convince the impressionable girls that everything is on the up and up. But, after they develop a strange but close relationship with the Commander in Chief, the girls eventually learn the truth about the Watergate scandal and contact newspaper reporters Bob Woodward (Will Ferrell) and Carl Bernstein (Bruce McCulloch).
