After the tree they live in is cut down, three singing chipmunk brothers, Alvin (Justin Long), Simon (Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (Jesse McCartney) find themselves in Los Angeles, where they are adopted by struggling songwriter Dave Seville (Jason Lee). Impressed with the little guys' talent and seeing the opportunity for long-awaited success, Dave sets out to make the chipmunks a musical sensation.
