Sam "Ace" Rothstein (Robert De Niro) is a gifted bookie who rises through the ranks of the Midwestern mob to front their actions in Las Vegas. While Ace doubles the mob's take and changes how the casinos are run, he has a more difficult time handling his new wife, Ginger McKenna (Sharon Stone). As Ginger's drug addiction spins out of control, Ace must also contend with the ambitious greed of Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), his best friend and the muscle behind his crooked dealings.
