Everyone always knew that Lars Lindstrom (Ryan Gosling) was a little strange. But, the loveable introvert, who spends most of his time alone, surprises everyone when he starts introducing a life-like doll he bought off the internet as his new girlfriend, Bianca. His brother Gus (Paul Schneider) and his wife Karen (Emily Mortimer) don't know how to react, so they just play along and treat Bianca like a real person.
