Outdoorsman Lewis Medlock (Burt Reynolds) takes his city friends (Jon Voight, Ned Beatty and Ronny Cox) on a canoe trip down the Cahulawassee River. Intent on seeing the land before it's flooded by a new dam, the group travels deep into the rugged back country. What starts out as a good time ends up being a life altering experience as the unfriendly locals become more and more of a threat. Directed by John Boorman.
