In the land of Alagaesia, orphan farm boy Eragon (Ed Speleers) discovers a mysterious blue stone that turns out to be a dragon's egg. When the dragon Saphira (voiced by Rachel Weisz) is born, Eragon learns that he is the dragon rider of ancient prophesy meant to set his people free from the evil King Galbatorix (John Malkovich).
