Tom (Kevin Bacon) is a railway engineer who loves trains more than anything else in his life. Davey (Miles Heizer) is a boy whose suicidal mother takes pills, then parks her car with the two of them in it on the tracks just when a train is scheduled to come. Tom is driving the train that almost kills the boy, and after the accident, the two of them get to know each other.
