Kate (Reese Witherspoon) and Brad (Vince Vaughn), a happiliy unmarried couple, find their plans for a tropical Christmas getaway ruined when the airport is shutdown by fog. After their familes discover that they'll be in town, Kate and Brad can no longer escape their obligations and must now visit all four of their divorced parents' homes. Forced to endure a host of embarassing relatives and mortifying stories from their past, Kate and Brad eventually gain a new understanding of their parents' choices and reevaluate their own situation.
