After helping to overthrow the dictatorship in Cuba, Ernesto "Che" Guevara (Benicio Del Toro), an Argentine doctor, continues his quest to spread a worldwide peasant revolution through guerrilla warfare. Following a speech at the UN General Assembly, Guevara disappears for a time before re-emerging in Bolivia.
