Adrian Cronauer (Robin Williams) is a crazy DJ who is brought into Vietnam to broadcast on Armed Forces Radio and cheer up the troops with his antics, voices and unconventinal way of delivering the news. Cronauer becomes wildly popular with the troops, but has a harder time dealing with his superiors. Off the air, the DJ mingles with the Vietnamese people. Eventually, his experiences with the real war and his better understanding of the lives of those involved makes it difficult to separate what he knows from what he has to say on the radio.
