The three Jordan sister are all dysfunctional in their own way. Joy (Jane Adams) is an unconfident and unaccomplished teacher who sleeps with an adult student, who then steals her guitar. Trish (Cynthia Stevenson) is an oblivious wife married to psychiatrist husband Bill (Dylan Baker), a pederast with violent visions of murder.
