Jesus Shuttlesworth (Ray Allen) is a highly sought after high school basketball prospect who is being heavily recruited by the nation's top programs. His father Jake (Denzel Washington) is serving time in Attica State Prison after being convicted of accidentally killing Jesus's mother by shoving her during an arguement with his son. When the governor of New York offers to lessen Jake's sentence if he can convince Jesus to play for his alma matter, Jake is given temporary release and reunited with his estranged son. As Jake tries to influence Jesus and make up for lost time as a father, the two face off as equals on the basketball court for the first time. Directed by Spike Lee.
