Benjamin Barry (Matthew McConaughey), a confident advertising executive, makes a bet that he can make a woman fall in love with him in ten days in order to win a new campaign. Meanwhile, Andie Anderson (Kate Hudson), a writer for a women's magazine, is assigned to write an article about how to cause a man to break off a relationship in ten days. Introduced by two of Benjamin's coworkers, Benjamin and Andie each work their angle, but despite their ulterior motives the two begin to develop true feelings for one another.
