Aspiring Irish actor Johnny (Paddy Considine), his wife Sarah (Samantha Morton ) and their two daughters (Sarah Bolger, Emma Bolger) illegally immigrate to the United States with dreams of a better life. Once they arrive in New York City, the family moves into a run-down apartment and tries to make it their own with little money and a strong will to succeed. While they struggle to fit in their new country, the family finds an unexpected friend in their reclusive, standoffish neighbor, Mateo (Djimon Hounsou). Directed by Jim Sheridan.
