When his daughter Meggie (Eliza Bennett) was just a baby, Mo Folchart (Brendan Fraser) discovered that he had the power to bring characters from books to life just by reading aloud. After unleashing the evil villain Capricorn (Andy Serkis) from Inkheart, a rare children's fable, and accidentally reading his wife (Sienna Guillory) into the story, Mo swears off reading for good. But, when Capricorn finally discovers Mo's identity, he kidnaps Meggie to lure her father to his mountain hideaway in order to use Mo's power for his own dark means. To rescue his daughter, Mo assembles an unlikely group of real and imaginary friends and embarks on a journey to set things right. Directed by Iain Softley.
