Vince Papale (Mark Wahlberg), a part-time bartender, recently lost his job as a substitute teacher and had his wife leave him, taking all of his furniture. When Dick Vermeil (Greg Kinnear), the coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, announces that the team will be holding open try-outs, Vince decides to give it a shot despite the staggering odds against him.
