Frank Falenczyk (Ben Kingsley) is a successful hit man for a Polish mob family in Buffalo. But, when his excessive drinking causes him to botch an important assignment, Frank's uncle send him to the west coast to try to kick the habit. There, he connects with Laurel (Téa Leoni), a sharped-tongued woman who helps him start a new way of life.
