To say Augusten Burroughs (Joseph Cross) has had an unusual upbring is quite the understatement. With an alcoholic father (Alec Baldwin) and a mentally unstable mother (Annette Bening), Augusten spends most of his time polishing his allowance and trying to stay home from school. But, after his mother goes through a significant breakdown, the boy finds himself living with her eccentric psychologist (Brian Cox) and his family.
