Telly Paretta (Julianne Moore), a grieving mother, is trying to get over the loss of her young son - until her psychiatrist (Gary Sinise) tells her that she made up the boy, that she has never been a mother and that even the man she thinks is her husband (Anthony Edwards) is a stranger.
