When a time capsule buried behind his son's elementary school is unearthed one year early, professor Ted Myles (Nicolas Cage) discovers that amongst a set of children's drawings is a sheet of paper covered in a series of random numbers. When Ted deciphers the code, he realizes that the numbers are actually the dates of every major disaster that has occurred in the last 50 years. With only three date remaining, Ted sets out with Diana Whelan (Rose Byrne), the daughter of the woman who wrote the numbers, to prevent the cataclysmic events that he fears are destined to become a reality.
