Following his wife's sudden and unexplained suicide, Wilson Joel (Philip Seymour Hoffman) initially tries to keep his life on track. But, when the searing pain in his stomach and the dazed quietness of his struggle becomes too much, he seeks oblivion by inhaling fumes from gasoline and model airplane fuel.
