When Brenda (Angela Bassett), a recently unemployed single mother living in inner city Chicago, receives a letter announcing that her father, whom she never met, has passed away, she gathers her three children and sets off for the funeral in Georgia. After struggling for years to make ends meet and keep her kids off the streets, Brenda has begun to lose hope and is desperate for help of any kind. What she gets is a whirlwind introduction to the fun-loving, crass Brown clan, a small-town Southern family who make her feel like she's known them her entire life. Directed by Tyler Perry.
