Former criminal prosecuter Michael Clayton (George Clooney) takes care of the unseen dirty work for one of New York's largest corporate law firms. Though burned out and disillusioned by his job, Clayton is tied to the firm and must clean up any mess that co-founder Marty Bach (Sydney Pollack) lays at his feet. Meanwhile, litigator Karen Crowder (Tilda Swinton) career rests on the settlement of a class action suit that Clayton's firm is set to win.
