When Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman), a Wall Street Journal reporter, is kidnapped during an interview with an Islamic fundamentalist cleric in Karachi, Pakistan, his pregnant wife and fellow reporter, Mariane Pearl (Angelina Jolie), initiates the search to find her husband. As Pakistani police, American embassy personnel and the FBI investigate witnesses, phone records, e-mails, and hard drives for leads on Daniel's whereabouts and who has taken him, Mariane writes about his disappearance, the intense effort to find him and his eventual murder.
