Alexandra Rover (Jodie Foster) is a famous adventure novelist who is afraid to leave her own house. Nim (Abigail Breslin), her biggest fan, lives an xciting, carefree life on secret island with her father, Jack (Gerard Butler). When Jack goes missing at sea, Nim contacts her fictional hero, Alex Rover ( also played by Gerard Butler), in the hope that he will help save her island and her father's life.
