DJay (Terrence Howard), a drug-dealing pimp from the rundown streets of Memphis, seeks purpose in his life by pursuing his long-buried dream of being a rapper. With the help of his women and an old firend (Anthony Anderson), who happens to be a sound engineer, DJay is able to put together a demo in time to arrange a meeting with a successful local rapper named Skinny Black (Ludacris). But, when things don't go as planned, DJay will have to dig deep and decide if he's going to end up the same old story, or fight his way to the top. Directed by Craig Brewer.
