Phoebe (Elle Fanning) is a little girl who loses herself completely in fantasies about the book "Alice in Wonderland." She imagines that one of her teachers (Patricia Clarkson) is her guide to a secret world of magic. Her parents (Felicity Huffman and Bill Pullman) can't quite understand her. She begins to exist so much in the fantasy world that they start to worry. Is her obsession with Alice healthy and imaginative, or dangerous?
