Thirty years after Colonel Terry Childers (Samuel L. Jackson) saved his life in Vietnam, Colonel Hayes Hodges (Tommy Lee Jones) is asked to defend his old friend in a military court. On trial for a rescue mission that went terribly wrong, Childers chooses Hodges as his lawyer, trusting him as a brother Marine who knows the pressures and risks of battle.
