After becoming engaged to her boyfriend Jeff (Mark Ruffalo), Sarah Huttington (Jennifer Aniston) travels home to Pasadena for her sister Annie's (Mena Suvari) wedding. Unsure about her new engagement and the direction of her career, Sarah's life is further complicated when she learns that her mother (Jennifer Bini Taylor) and grandmother (Shirley MacLaine) may have been the inspiration for the novel The Graduate. To learn the truth, Sarah tracks down Beau Burroughs (Kevin Costner), who she believes might be her father.
