Nicola Sacco (voiced by Tony Shalhoub) and Bartolomeo Vanzetti (voiced by John Turturro), two Italian-born immigrants who worked as laborers in America, were executed in 1927 after being accused of armed robbery and the murder of two payroll clerks. Their controversial trial attracted enormous international attention, with critics accusing the prosecution and presiding judge of improper conduct and allowing anti-Italian, anti-immigrant and anti-anarchist sentiment to prejudice the jury.
