Following the death of an old childhood friend, a writer (Richard Dreyfuss) remembers back to when he (Wil Wheaton), the boy (River Phoenix) and two other friends (Corey Feldman and Jerry O'Connell) set off on an adventure to find the missing body of a boy killed by a train. While the boys travel down the tracks, telling stories and bonding through their shared experience, a group of older boys (including Kiefer Sutherland) set off to find the body for themselves.
