Texan Charles Farmer (Billy Bob Thornton) left the Air Force as a young man to save his family's ranch following the death of his father. Refusing to abandon his dream of traveling to space, Farmer decides to build a rocket in his barn. Despite the FBI placing him under surveillance, Charlie refuses to admit failure and decides to proceed with the launch with the support of his wife (Virginia Madsen) and children.
