Based on the true story of one of the most notorious crimes in California history, this film stars Josh Hartnett and Aaron Eckhart as two police detectives in 1940s Los Angeles. An aspiring actress (Mia Kirshner) is found murdered and mutilated and the detectives are put on the case. Bucky (Hartnett) begins a romance with a mysterious woman (Hilary Swank), who resembles the dead woman, and also gets involved in a love triangle with Lee (Eckhart) and his girlfriend (Scarlett Johansson).
