When Karen (Sarah Michelle Gellar), an exchange student working in Japan, agrees to cover for a homestay nurse who doesn't show up for work, she discovers the Grudge, a terrifying curse that controls an othewise normal house in Tokyo. Anyone who falls under the Grudge dies a horrible death and passes the curse on to whoever next enters the house. Karen must uncover the secret to stopping the curse before it destroys her life.
