During an anniversary trip with his wife Sara (Marsha Thomason) and their two children (Marc John Jefferies and Aree Davis), workaholic realtor Jim Evers (Eddie Murphy) makes a detour to an historic but rundown mansion in the hopes of turning a big profit. After receiving a cold welcome from the creepy butler Ramsley (Terence Stamp), the family is introduced to Master Gracey (Nathaniel Parker), the eccentric owner of the estate. When a violent thunderstorm forces the family to stay the night, the Evers soon find themselves in a real-life haunted house, and discover that Sara shares an unexpected connection to its ghostly past.
