The famous Oscar Wilde play is brought to the screen again, this time with Colin Firth as Jack, the gentleman who pals around with the witty dandy, Algernon (Rupert Everett). Both men are fond of using the name Ernest when they are trying to conceal something. Then it turns out that Gwendolyn (Frances O'Connor), a young woman Jack loves, declares that she could marry a man named Ernest. Jack's ward, Cecily (Reese Witherspoon), then catches Algernon's eye and it all gets a bit complicated. But the scary Lady Bracknell (Judi Dench) is on hand to straighten everyone out. Directed by Oliver Parker. Categories: Comedy, Drama, Romance. Year: 2002.
