Jack (Adrien Brody), a soldier who was shot in the head by a child in Iraq, returns to America suffering from bouts of amnesia. He is wrongly accused of killing a cop and thrown into a mental hospital. He meets a young woman (Keira Knightley) who believes in his innocence, but she can't influence the doctors (Kris Kristofferson and Jennifer Jason Leigh).
