The original Zorro (Anthony Hopkins), a master swordsman, was imprisoned in 19th century California by the evil Spanish governor for fighting for freedom. His wife was killed and his daughter was abducted and raised by the governor. Twenty years later, Zorro trains a young country bumpkin (Antonio Banderas) to become the new Zorro and drive away the governor.
