Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster), an ambitious FBI Academy student, is sent to a hospital for the criminally insane to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a once renowned psychiatrist turned cannibalistic serial killer. Clarice hopes that Lector's psychopathic expertise will help her track down "Buffalo Bill" (Ted Levine), another deranged murderer.
