When Big Tom Callahan (Brian Dennehy), kicks the bucket, the family auto parts business is in danger of going under unless his clumsy, dim-witted but well-intentioned son, Tommy Callahan Jr. (Chris Farley), can convince the company's long time customers to make the switch to their new brake pads. Together with Big Tom's right-hand man, Richard (David Spade), Tommy hits the road to save the company and the jobs of all its workers. But, in addition to having to overcome his self-doubt and lack of sales skills, Tommy must also figure out a way to outsmart his step-mother (Bo Derek) and her "son" (Rob Lowe), who want to sell the factory and steal the Callahan fortune.
