Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) is trapped in the perpetual routine of heroin addiction in the underbelly of Edinburgh, Scotland. Amongst his friends, a group of losers, liars, psychos and thieves, Mark alone has the insight and opportunity to escape his fate. The only question remains is whether or not he wants to.
