William Harding (Bill Paxton) is a TV weatherman who chases tornadoes for fun. While Harding is in the process of getting a divorce from his wife Jo (Helen Hunt) so that he can marry his girlfriend (Jami Gertz), a cluster of incredibly strong tornadoes in Oklahoma brings the three together as they try out brand new measuring equipment in the eyes of the storms.
